Karen is an executive who has advised senior executives in healthcare, technology and professional services sectors as well as in higher education. She is a thought leader in marketing and corporate reputation management who excels in strategic planning, driving growth and strengthening brand reputation to drive business outcomes.

Karen held a number of leadership roles with Capstrat, a marketing communications agency and then Ketchum, a global communications consultancy. As EVP, President and then CEO, she played a leading role in growing Capstrat. Under her leadership, the company earned a national reputation as an award-winning industry leader.  Among her accomplishments at Capstrat: launching analytics and social media services, building a national healthcare practice and revamping the firm’s digital offerings.  Karen also navigated the agency’s acquisition by Omnicom Inc. in 2012 and worked to integrate Capstrat into the Ketchum network.

She serves on the board of directors of the American Marketing Association and the board of visitors for UNC Children’s Hospital.
