Mark brings to Newport expertise in an important, growing industry: business information services. Mark’s career in Financial, legal and medical information started with a 13 year career at Bloomberg Financial Markets. Hired as the company’s fifth sales person and a direct report to Michael Bloomberg, Mark went on to a number of important positions with Bloomberg, including General Manager roles for North Asia, Singapore and New York. In these positions he had P&L accountability for multinational, cross-border organizations. He was credited with contributions to creating, growing and holding Bloomberg’s leading presence in Asia – a primary driver of corporate-wide growth and profitability.
Mark has also been COO of 2 venture capital backed companies, President of a privately held British media company and CEO of a family owned litigation support company. His Board Director service encompasses three public companies, two private companies and is the Lead Director of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County (CT).
As CEO, led a privately-held software company through a re-engineering converting their software development from waterfall development to agile development thereby speeding product management resulting in the successful sale to a British company.
CEO of a family-owned litigation support company where he implemented organizational development Key Performance Indicators to achieve increased revenue resulting in the eventual sale.
As a Board Member oversaw the sale of a telecommunications engineering and construction company to a PE-backed competitor and after joining the new larger board saw the eventual restructuring and sale to a larger PE fund.
